51st Annual National Shrimp Festival  I  Oct. 10 – 13

There is a reason the Annual National Shrimp Festival is one of the top Gulf Shores festivals! This family-friendly festival has been going strong for more than 50 years and attracting more than 300,000 people from all over. Haunted Hustle 5k, Fun Run, and Witches on Wheels | Oct. 19

Grab your brooms and your scariest shoes for this horrifyingly fun beach run! At 6 p.m., kick off the evening at The Witches on Wheel bicycle ride, where all witches and warlocks are invited to parade around the Town Green throwing potions (er, prizes) at (un)lucky bystanders. At 7:10 p.m., grab your ghosts and goblins and head over to The Haunted Hustle 5k to race for bragging rights and prizes. It promises to be a fright of a night!

The Original German Sausage Festival  I  Oct. 26

Arts and crafts, musical acts, an old fashioned midway, and more German-style food than you can handle! This fundraiser has been headed up by the Elberta Fire Department since 1978, and all proceeds benefit the fire department and Town of Elberta, AL. It’s a short drive from Orange Beach, but well worth the trip! Admission is free.

The parade will begin at 2:00 pm east of Phoenix West, making its way down a two-mile stretch to Highway 161. This year’s parade will begin at 10 am on Fat Tuesday. The route starts at the intersection of Highway 59 and East Beach Boulevard (Highway 182) and will travel along East Beach Boulevard to the Gulf State Park Pier Road. Get some Christmas shopping knocked out during Holly Days on Main at The Wharf on Dec. 11-12. Vendors will line Main Street with unique holiday gifts. There will be music and dance performances and even an appearance by Santa Claus!

Lace-up a pair of ice skates at The Wharf and take a spin around the ice. It’s a whole different way to experience a white Christmas in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Follow it up with a mug of piping hot cocoa at The Southern Grind for the perfect day.

On Dec. 11, see St. Nick skydive onto the sand during the annual Santa Drop at the Flora-Bama. Free sweets, hot chocolate and juice will be available for kids. Also on Dec. 11, enjoy a highlight of the holiday season with the 35th Christmas Lighted Boat Parade. Held the second Saturday each December, the decorated fleet leaves at 5 p.m. from LuLu’s in Gulf Shores and ends at about 8:30 p.m. at Cobalt in Orange Beach. Watch the parade from one of the restaurants along the Intracoastal Waterway or set up chairs and view the festively lighted boats from the banks of the Canal.

This year, Easter falls on April 12, when the temperatures hit an average of 76 degrees during the day and dip to the high-50s at night. We call that perfect beach weather! Pack your bags and put Turquoise Place in your GPS. It’s time for Easter in Orange Beach.

Easter Worship Services. Attend an Easter service at Turquoise Place provided by Island Church at 11:30 a.m. in the C Tower event room. An Easter Sunrise Service on the beach will be offered at the Flora-Bama’s Worship on the Water at 6 a.m., while The Hangout in Gulf Shores hosts a service at 6:30 a.m. with Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.

Easter Activities for the Kids. First, spend Easter in Orange Beach with activities onsite at Turquoise Place. Bring the kids and a basket for the Easter Egg Hunt on West Beach in front of the D Tower. Don’t be late. After all, an Easter Egg hunt is over almost as quickly as it begins, and this one starts promptly at 10 a.m.

Live Music. Listen to live music from noon to 4 p.m. at the main pool while relaxing and catching some rays. Order a delicious lunch at the Change of Pace bar and grill near the main pool while you take in the atmosphere. It’s a great way to relax during Easter in Orange Beach.

More Easter Fun. Our Easter Eggstravaganza will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on the East Lawn, the grassy area next to C Tower. Activities are complimentary for guests staying with Spectrum Resorts. There is a $7 cost for non-Spectrum guests. Activities include photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts, games, face-painting, an inflatable obstacle course and more.

Wear your Easter best for a Photo with the Easter Bunny at The Wharf on April 4-5 and April 10-11. They will also have live, fuzzy bunnies to hold in front of the camera, if you choose.

An Easter Egg Hunt is set at The Wharf from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 4. The Marina Lawn will be speckled with more than 5,000 colorful eggs for youngsters to claim including six golden eggs. A wide variety of kids’ activities will be offered onsite, including face painting, pony rides, a bouncy house, giant coloring sheets and more.

An Easter Egg Hunt and Kids Fun Day will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on April 11 at the Flora-Bama. Come celebrate the holiday with this free event. Easter Egg Hunt begins at 2 p.m. on the beach behind the Flora-Bama and the Easter Bunny will skydive onto the beach shortly after. Participants must bring their own baskets and cameras for this event.
